Clients: Major Projects Victoria and City of Ballarat
Project value: $30.2 million (Stage 1)
Status: Stage 1 subdivision works are in progress
The Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) is expected to create 9,000 jobs and generate $5 billion in output per annum.
We were engaged in a traffic engineering capacity to design roads, intersections and a shared bicycle and pedestrian network. This involved reviewing the existing transport network and analysing swept paths for High Performance Freight Vehicles (HPFVs) including B-triples.
Our designs will help integrate road and lot design (Stage 1) with the BWEZ Freight Hub (Stage 2).
The BWEZ Freight Hub will help connect Ballarat to surrounding regions and capital cities such as Melbourne and Adelaide. It will integrate 3 modes of transport: road, rail and air. At 438 developable hectares of land, the hub is an essential building block of regional Victoria.
