SALT was engaged by COX Architecture in 2018 to provide traffic engineering advice for the 9-storey commercial development at the above address. The development included:

  • A basement car park;
  • A Café and retail tenancies on the ground floor; and
  • Office spaces from floors 1-9.

Primarily, SALT focused on the design and access to the basement car park. To provide parking for the large development SALT provided a range of options including car stacker systems, which resulted in the detailed review of vehicle circulation to ensure safe and efficient access was achieved.
Despite this, the car parking proposed on site did not meet Planning Scheme requirements and as such a car parking waiver was required to proceed with the development. SALT provided justification for this car parking reduction via the preparation of a car parking demand assessment, reference to relevant studies and previous experience.
To assist in the car parking dispensation, significant bicycle parking and associated end of trip facilities were included and design advice provided to ensure these were of an excellent standard.
