Client:
Tract Consultants and Elenberg Fraser
Project Status:
Construction in progress
Project Value:
$750 million
In 2018 SALTs traffic engineering team were engaged by Tract Consultants and Elenberg Fraser to provide expertise for the Kinnears Ropeworks project.
This is the beginning of a new era for the ex-factory after being repurposed into a residential and mixed-use precinct of up to 1,450 dwellings.
The development will be staged over the next 6-8 years, to incorporate six precincts with a project total end value estimated at $750 million. The first stage of Live City is located on the site’s western edge between Ballarat Road and Kinnear’s Street and will feature 208 residential apartments within three buildings.
Once developed, Kinnears will accommodate
- 1450 dwellings in 8 buildings ranging from 5 to 18 storeys;
- A neighbourhood mixed use activity centre;
- A public plaza and other public spaces;
- The integration of heritage buildings and spaces with new development; and
- Pedestrian connections through the site to connect with the local neighbourhood
The site is a significant heritage asset and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Significant amendments were made during the Development Plan approvals process which included liaison with most of the consultant team.
