SALT’s waste and environment team completed a kerbside waste and recycling audit for Northern Grampians Shire Council in 2022. The audit involved sampling household waste and recycling bins from the towns of Halls Gap and St Arnaud, sorting each sample into predetermined material categories and recording the weight of each material to provide a detailed analysis of the composition of the municipality’s household waste and recycling. SALT’s audit report will assist Northern Grampians Shire Council with future planning of its food and garden organics collection service as well as identifying the potential impacts and opportunities arising from the upcoming Victorian Container Deposit Scheme.
