SALT was engaged by the Department of Education and Training in 2019 to undertake a safety review of the regional bus interchange and comment on accessibility to the nearby school.

A series of recommendations with regards to pedestrian safety including comment on the existing locations of the bus interchange and gates, indication of optimal locations for pick-up and drop-off of students, surveys to obtain further information on vehicle and pedestrian volumes and the location and operation of children’s crossings were provided to the Department of Education and Training.

In the course of preparing the above recommendations a road safety audit was prepared that analysed the subject site and outlined a range of findings and accompanying recommendations.
