Macedon Ranges EPA Registrations and Risk Assessment

Client:
Macedon Ranges Shire Council

Project Status:
Complete

SALT assisted Macedon Ranges Shire Council in registering their waste transfer stations with EPA Victoria in accordance with the general environmental duty under the new Environment Protection Act 2017. Our team assisted Council with assessing existing data on waste stream types and volumes and classifying the waste streams based on EPA categories. Council was successful in receiving an approval for the registrations submitted for all three transfer stations and hence can continue to operate the sites. Our services also included site visits and provision of a detailed environmental risk assessment for each site identifying potential environmental, health and safety risks associated with receipt and storage of waste materials on site including risks to staff members, visitors and the surrounding environment. The assessment, that commenced in 2021, also provided recommendations for a range of controls which could be implemented to minimise or prevent the risks from occurring.
