SALT was engaged by Swan Hill Rural City Council in 2021 to prepare a feasibility study for a proposed mattress processing facility. The facility would improve current practice and increase recovery and recycling rates of the material components in mattresses.

SALT’s services included site assessments and detailed research and analysis of currently available and innovative technologies to recover or recycle the materials generated, develop a cost assessment and business plan which would consider the operational, social and circular economy impacts of the built facility. SALT presented several options with varying scale and processing methods to Council.
